Our research activities in this field include:

  • Assessment of cognitive functions, vascular risk factors and depression in the elderly
  • Biomarkers research in Alzheimer’s disease
  • Participation into pharmacological trials for the treatment of dementia
  • Implementation and evaluation of e-learning focused on Alzheimer disease for professionals (SOCRATES HCNV Project)
  • Assessment of psycho-social treatments for patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and their families including: programmes designed to stimulate patients cognitive functions, educational programmes for families, family and behavioural therapies, Café Alzheimer.
  • Expertise in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for patients suffering from Alzheimer disease and their families. In the field of ICT for elderly people and patients suffering from cognitive impairment and their carers, we have expertise in the following tasks
    • assessment of end-users needs
    • development of cognitive stimulation programmes and educational programmes for their carers
    • evaluation of technologies for elderly persons and their carers in the hospital, in day care centres and at home
    • ethics and technologies.  
  • We are involved in national and European projects including TANDEM, QUOVADIS and CompanionAble projects.
  • We are a member of the European Alzheimer Disease Consortium (EADC).
